THE TEAM

FRancisco Najarro

Francisco Najarro collaborates since 1990 in the development of CMFGEN. He has led the pioneering infrared studies of the massive stars at the Galactic Center and metallicity maps using massive stars across the Galaxy. His expertise extends to the optical and UV spectrum, and overall multiwavelength quantitative spectroscopic studies of massive stars with CMFGEN. F. Najarro carried out the first spectroscopic analysis of a massive star beyond the Local Group.

MIRIAM GARCÍA GARCÍA

M. Garcia leads the efforts to unveil and study metal-poor massive stars in nearby dwarf irregular galaxies (mostly IC1613 and Sextans-A) with optical spectroscopic surveys. She is an expert on UV spectroscopy and obtained, for the first time, UV spectroscopy of metal-poor massive stars beyond the SMC with HST. M. García developed the AUTOPOP code to look for clusters of massive stars in the Milky Way (from IR photometry) and other galaxies.

Diego

de la Fuente

Diego de la Fuente worked on characterizing the massive stellar content of young massive clusters in the Galactic disk, in preparation to draw the 2-D metallicity map of the Milky Way. As part of his thesis work he also consolidated Paschen-alpha imaging as a powerful method to detect massive stars and provided new insight into the nature of FS CMa stars.

María del Mar Rubio Díez

Maria del Mar's science driver is the mass of massive stars with two main foci: constraining the initial mass of very massive stars and study clumping that, in turn, affects the mass-loss measurements informing the evolutionary models used to estimate stellar masses. She is an expert on near- and far- (Herschel) infrared observations, but her studies also include photometry and spectroscopy from the ultraviolet to radio wavelengths.
